How to become a Trustee

To qualify to become a trustee one must be qualified to vote in that trustee zone. Individuals must be nominated by two people within their zone, who are also qualified voters.

Le Conseil scolaire francophone provincial de Terre-Neuve-et-Labrador at-large candidates can be from any zone, as can the two people who nominate them.

Nomination papers must be submitted to the Returning Officer during the open nomination period of October 24 and October 28, 2016.

As these dates approach, submission details will be announced. Please visit this website for more up-to-date information as it becomes available.

Acclamation: When the exact number required in a zone are nominated, then the nominee(s) will be named the trustees. Otherwise the trustee will be determined on Election Day through a standard voting process.

Ineligible nominees for a trustee include employees of the school board and the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development (without ministerial approval). Individuals can only run for one position and one board.

While Nomination Forms are available for download completed forms will only be accepted by the Returning Officer of the election in which a nomination is being submitted between the hours of 9:00 am to 5:00 pm during the period of October 24 to 28, 2016. Nomination forms can be faxed, e-mailed or mailed to the Returning Officer. (Mailed nomination forms must carry a postmark from any of the first three working days of the nomination period - Oct 24 to 26, 2016).
